Policy

All our puppies are sold on limited registration.  If you have questions, please ask.

We usually have a waiting list.  The list is to ensure that people get calls in the order in which they contacted us.  We usually wait until the puppies are at least 6 weeks old to start emailing or calling people on the list to check on there interest in a puppy.  If you are still interested at that time, you are encouraged to place e $200 deposit on the puppy of your choice.  That is the only way you can assure a puppy will be there when you want one.

I will hold a puppy for 7 days waiting on your deposit to arrive.  After received, the puppy will be marked as sold on deposit.   I do not consider a puppy sold or held unless payment by way of the deposit is paid

You can put a deposit down on a puppy at any time and that ensures you will get a puppy of your choice  when they are ready to go to their forever homes.

Return Policy

Should you purchase a puppy from us, and find that the puppy will not work in your home, please contact us as soon as possible. If you return the dog to us within 24 hours, a full refund will be issued. If the dog is returned more than 24 hours after it is purchased, but less than a week after it is purchased, $100 of the purchase price will be refunded to you. After the 7 day period, the puppy becomes a non-refundable purchase. In order to receive a full or partial refund the puppy must be returned in a healthy condition. Should the dog show signs of abuse or neglect, no refund will be issued, and you will be responsible for any vet care necessary due to neglect or abuse.

If at any time during the dog’s life, you are unable to keep a dog that you purchased from us, we require that you return the dog to us or at least notify us of the dog’s new living arrangements. We do not want our dogs to end up in a shelter or an unfit or abusive home. So, if you are able to find a good home, you may notify us of the conditions in the home the dog will be going to. If you do not have a good home lined up, we require that you return the dog to us.

Note: The return conditions in this policy are in place should the puppy need to be returned for any reason other than a health reason. If there is a health problem with the puppy, the conditions in the written health guarantee will apply, rather than the conditions listed in this policy.

Two Year Written Heath Guarantee

Each cocker spaniel puppy we sell comes with a two year written health guarantee and a lifetime return home agreement.   Following is the contract we use for this guarantee:

Antioch Kennel, hereafter referred to as the Seller, and the new owner of the dog, hereafter referred to as the Buyer, do hereby enter into the following agreement:

This dog is guaranteed to be in good health at the time of this sale to the best of the Seller’s knowledge. The dog has been wormed and has had inoculations against canine distemper, Coronavirus, and parvovirus vaccine. If travel on an airline is required the dog will be examined by a licensed veterinarian to be cleared for travel.

Replacement Guarantee:

Buyer is to arrange a puppy check up by a qualified vet within 5 days of receiving puppy (not including Sundays) During this initial exam, should your veterinarian detect any communicable disease or a life threatening health condition, you must contact Seller immediately. In the event your vet diagnosis a communicable disease or life threatening genetic defect at this initial exam, you must return the puppy to breeder within two days of the exam with the veterinary report of the diagnosis. If buyer chooses not to return pup then he or she is accepting pup “as is” and this guarantee/purchase contract is null and void.  If returning pup the buyer is responsible for returning the puppy, and all papers, and shot record to Seller. In case of death of the puppy before the initial exam, the buyer must submit a veterinarian’s necropsy report as to the cause of death and death must be entirely due to a communicable disease or congenital defect. Seller shall be notified immediately in the event that the puppy has an illness, or does not eat well before the initial vet exam. Failure to have the initial vet check done within five days or to notify Seller of illness or poor eating before the initial exam will void this warranty. Parasites (including demodex) and worms are not covered by this agreement.

Antioch Kennels shall NOT reimburse any veterinary expenses or other expenses incurred by the buyer at any time. Sellers warranty is limited to a replacement puppy, upon the immediate return (within 2 days of vet exam) of the puppy (uninjured and unharmed), its contract papers, and a written veterinarian’s statement that includes the complete diagnosis of the communicable disease or congenital life threatening defect that makes the puppy unfit. Not covered– internal or external parasites, hernia, undescended testicles, under or overbite, injury, allergies, colds, eye colds, ear infections, Coccidia , accidental death, heat exhaustion, or hypoglycemia. Hypoglycemia is preventable with good care and feeding.

When the puppy is replaced, it will be replaced with one of equal value as soon as available, after the Puppy and all papers have been returned to Seller. Buyer is responsible for all transportation of puppies. Puppy must not be euthanized without prior written approval from the Seller or this guarantee is void. Buyer understands that the following slight defects are not considered life threatening and therefore are not covered–hernias, undescended testicle, under or over bites. Because luxating patellas and collapsing trachea /backs, hips can be caused by injury, they are not covered after vet’s initial exam. Buyer understands that replacement option is only valid when health problems life threatening and are attributed solely to a hereditary problem and are not due to accident or injury.

The Seller guarantees that if during the first year of it’s life, the dog is found to have any genetic PRA of the eye, that would cause blindness, the seller will replace the dog with another dog of equal or lesser value when available. Veterinarian certification is required and the dog must be returned to the seller.

The Seller guarantees that if the dog is found to have genetic hip dysplasia within two years of the adoption date contained in this agreement, the Seller will replace the dog with another dog of equal or lesser value when available.  The Buyer agrees to furnish x-rays of the puppy’s hips and a letter from the attending veterinarian verifying the puppy is dysplastic. The Buyer agrees to return the puppy to the Seller in order for any part of this guarantee to be valid.

The Seller assumes no responsibility for the dog after leaving the Seller’s premises including, but not limited to, medical expenses, temperament, mortality, landlord’s approval, allergy to animals, disagreements of family or any other reason. It is further understood and agreed that no warranties or representation of any nature or sort have been made with respect to the sold animal except those contained in this agreement. However, rest assured that we stand behind our puppies.  Our reputation is based on your satisfaction and healthy well bred dogs.

The Buyer has been advised that a puppy should not be taken around other animals that have not been protected against the normal diseases until the puppy has competed the third series of puppy vaccinations and been advised by their own veterinarian.

The Buyer has been informed that the Seller is not a licensed veterinarian and that immediate veterinary medical advice should be sought first if critical health issues arise during the time period covered by this agreement. The Buyer should only contact the Seller after the emergency medical situation has been dealt with by a licensed veterinarian. Any failure of the Buyer to seek proper medical care for the dog shall render the contract null and void and the Seller free from replacement and blame.

This guarantee in whole is to replace the dog upon the return of the original dog.   In some instances, at the Seller’s discretion, a full or partial refund may be issued instead of a replacement dog.  However, a refund is not guaranteed under this agreement.

The Seller has at his/her discretion the ability to add to this guarantee if the Seller deems necessary.

The Buyer must read and agree to the following upon receipt of the dog:

I have examined this dog and found it to be sound and healthy and am totally pleased and satisfied. I also accept and will adhere to the recommendations to properly care for the dog all of its life. I have been advised to feed the food in proper amounts to avoid poor health or obesity. I agree to keep worming, inoculations, and heartworm prevention current as advised by my personal veterinarian. I will also agree that if at any time during the dog’s life, I am no longer able to care for the dog, I will return it to the Seller, or advise the Seller of the new living arrangements should the dog ever be owned by someone other than the Buyer.  I understand that the Seller may require me to return the dog to the Seller if the Seller determines that the new living arrangements for the dog will cause neglect or abuse.  Furthermore, I realize that there is a $40 charge on all returned checks.  If I pay by check and my check is returned, I agree to provide cash to the Seller for the amount of the puppy and the $40 additional charge within 10 days of being notified.  I agree to surrender the puppy back to the Seller until I pay the debt.  If the debt is not paid in 10 days, I relinquish all rights to the puppy.
